Dr. Chirag Patel is the Assistant Professor at the Gujarat Maritime University. He is one of the founding faculty members of School of Maritime Management, which offers MBA in Shipping and Logistics where he teaches courses like Introduction to Maritime Industry, Maritime Organizational Behavior, Maritime HRM, Digital Technologies in Maritime Sector, Management of Shipping Companies, Maritime Infrastructure and PPP, Liner Trade and Multi Modal Logistics.
At GMU, Dr. Patel wears many hats which includes being the Head of Center for Maritime Logistics, Member of Board of Studies for School of Maritime Management and of IQAC committee. He is also one of the editors of the GMU Journal of Maritime Management, the Convener for committees like Admissions at School of Maritime Management, Placements & Internship Cell, GIMAC IT procurement, Student Startup & Innovation Policy and responsible for coordinating student and academic events at GMU.
With over 15 years of experience including working at several academic institutions and the banking & insurance sector, Dr. Patel has published multiple papers for reputed journals, presented at national and international conferences/seminars. He has published research papers in Insurance Institute of India, IOSR journals and also presented the research papers at various Government Universities like Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Saurashtra University etc. He has been invited as a guest speaker at some of the most prestigious universities in Gujarat including Gujarat National Law University, Gujarat Technological University, Udaybhansinhji Regional institute of Cooperative Management, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, HL Commerce College, K.S School of Management, Gujarat University, etc.
From 2016 to 2018, Dr. Patel was the Co-Principal investigator on three projects by Government of Gujarat on Preparation of District Human Development Reports. Dr. Patel cleared the UGC – NET (Management) Eligibility for Lectureship in 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Accounts and Auditing from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, PGDM from School of Communication and Management Studies in HR and Marketing and a Ph.D from Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya. He holds multiple diplomas and certifications in a diverse array of subjects from HR to R Programming and completed multiple faculty development programs since 2015, the most valuable being the Faculty Development Programme in Management at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad in 2019.
