
Dr. Dharmesh S. Raval is currently Director (i/c) at School of Maritime Management and faculty member teaching courses in Shipping Finance, Blue Economy and Marine Insurance domains in MBA Program of GMU.
He is Member of Board of Management, Academic Council and Finance Committee at Gujarat Maritime University. He has a rich and diverse experience of over 25 years which includes working with leading academic institutions, academia-industry interaction, research and teaching management students. Dr. Raval holds a Ph.D. in Management and Diploma in Computer Studies from UCLES.
Dr. Raval started his research journey in 2004, when he enrolled for PhD in Management, got his PhD awarded in 2007, and published his first significant research work on the topic, “Business and Global Warming Interface: Carbon Credit” in 2009. Since then, he has contributed as a researcher in several national and international journals in the areas of Finance, Entrepreneurship, etc. He was also invited as guest editor in Technology Innovation Management Review publication of Carleton University Canada, in which he also contributed as researcher in the same publication.
Over the years, he has participated and contributed in several national and international academic, research and industry conferences as researcher and as an expert. He is invited as an expert in seminars and conferences as an expert of Blue Economy and Marine Finance. He has attended Faculty Development Program at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. He has been actively working with Industry in the senior leadership team of Rajkot Management Association, a local arm of All India Management Association. He has successfully guided and supervised 7 PhD Scholars who have been awarded PhD Degrees in the areas of Finance, HR and Business Strategy.
Dr. Raval contributed as a lead researcher in the project INNOTAL – to support the uptake and mainstreaming of entrepreneurship education and innovation training in PC universities and to promote the integration of talent development into research and innovation activities in collaboration with external stakeholders. The project was supported by the European Union’s Erasmus + Programme – Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education. The project consortium consisted of 4 European Universities – from Bulgaria, Greece, Finland and the UK, 4 Universities from India, 2 Universities from Nepal, 2 Universities from Sri Lanka and 2 Universities from the Philippines. He has attended collaboration workshops and project meetings at Sri Lanka, Philippines, Nepal and Hyderabad – India.
Dr. Raval has contributed as consultant in the International Project of Cost & Management Accounting, at Middlesex University, London and in the project for the launch of Business Standard Newspaper for Saurashtra Region. Dr. Raval who is a Cambridge English Level 2 Certified with Grade A in CEFR Level C1 loves to teach & research and believes in “collaboration and teamwork”. He has research interests in shipping finance, ship recycling, port led development, arctic shipping and other maritime research areas.
