Centre for Maritime Logistics

Overview

Maritime forms the backbone for international trade and for the global economy. Around 90 percent of the global trade by volume and 70 percent by value are carried by sea and are handled by ports worldwide. The Centre for Maritime Logistics is a dedicated interdisciplinary research and knowledge hub established to advance innovation, policy, and practice in the field of maritime logistics and supply chain management.

The Centre focuses on improving the efficiency and sustainability of maritime logistics through digitalization, automation, and data-driven strategies. It will focus on all three aspects of Maritime Logistics, i.e., shipping, port operations, and freight forwarding. CML envisions becoming a global Centre of Excellence in maritime logistics by promoting sustainable practices, enhancing operational efficiency, and nurturing talent for the maritime sector. Through its integrated approach, the Centre is committed to making significant contributions to national maritime policy, industrial competitiveness, and academic innovation.

Scope and Functions

  • To organize Seminar/Conferences and other academic events
  • To organize short term courses on Maritime Logistics
  • To contribute to research and expansion of knowledge on Maritime Logistics by publishing Books, Journal articles, etc.
  • To collaborate with national and international institutes globally recognized for working in the field of Maritime Logistics.
  • Plan and execute outreach activities beneficial to the corporates in the field of Maritime Logistics.
