Centre of Maritime Logistics

Background

Maritime forms the backbone for the international trade and for the global economy. Around 90 percent of the global trade by volume and 70 percent by value are carried by sea and are handled by port worldwide. Covid-19 pandemic has created a problem for the global interdependence of nations and set new trends that will completely reshape maritime logistics landscape. The volume of the international maritime trade fall by 4.1% in 2020. Amid supply chain disruptions there has been a reduction in demand and economic uncertainty caused by pandemic. Thus, the global economy was severely affected by a twin demand and supply shock

This pandemic has shown the importance of maritime logistics as an essential sector for the continued delivery of critical supplies and global trade in the time of crisis, during the recovery stage and when resuming normality
