Dr. Abhay Singh Thakur is an Assistant Professor at Gujarat Maritime University, he also holds the position of Director (I/C), School of Maritime Law, Policy and Administration, Member, Board of Management and Center Head of the Centre for Maritime Environmental Law, Gujarat Maritime University. He brings a wealth of experience spanning over a decade, encompassing both teaching and industry roles. His expertise lies in Shipping Laws and Regulations, Marine Environmental Law, and the Law of International Carriage.
Dr. Abhay Singh has showcased his expertise on Maritime Law and related subjects through presentations at prestigious national and international conferences, including notable events such as the 46th Conference on Ocean, Law and Policy organized by Ankara University, Turkey, in collaboration with the US Naval War College, International Association of Maritime Economists Conference in Rotterdam and the International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Maritime Safety and Technology in Malaysia.
In addition to his conference engagements, Dr. Abhay has made substantial contributions to the academic discourse through multiple publications in SCOPUS/WOS/UGC-indexed International Journals. Recognized for his expertise, Dr. Abhay is regularly invited as a resource person by esteemed universities and organizations such as Gujarat National Law University, Karnavati University, IFIM Law School, CARE, VMLS, and TNDALU where he shares insights on essential and contemporary maritime subjects. Dr. Abhay holds a Doctorate from Gujarat National Law University, where he is actively involved in multidisciplinary research in Maritime Environmental Law and Shipping Contracts. Furthermore, he has qualified for the UGC-NET exam and holds a Master’s in Law from the prestigious West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata.” Dr Abhay has also been trained by the Erasmus University, Rotterdam and Chennai Port Trust in the area of Port and Shipping Laws and management.
