
Mr. Saravanan R is a gold medalist in LL.M. Maritime Law from Gujarat Maritime University, where he graduated with distinction. He serves as Assistant Professor of Law at Gujarat Maritime University and Centre Head for the Centre for Research on Maritime Labour Law. He holds a B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) from the School of Excellence in Law, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), is UGC-NET qualified in Law, and is pursuing his Ph.D. at TNDALU.
His expertise covers maritime law, ocean governance, international climate frameworks, Admiralty Practice, International Maritime Law, Maritime Labour Law, and Marine Insurance. As research consultant for The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC), he analyzed India’s cyber-scam operations, their ties to Chinese/Southeast Asian networks, recruitment methods, structures, financial flows, and threats to UK/anglophone countries.
Notable work includes a joint ISWAN study on Indian seafarer recruitment fraud, presented at the 2024 ISWAN India Conference to the Director General of Shipping; sessions for Indian Naval Officers; and guest lectures at SRM School of Law and TNDALU. He has presented at global conferences on maritime boundaries, seafarers’ rights, and Indian labour law’s international alignment, with ILO scholarships for MLC 2006 workshops.
