Mr. Sharad Sarangadharan is a port sector professional with over 20 years of experience in the port sector. Holding an MBA in Marketing and a Post Graduate in Shipping Management, he also holds additional qualification of a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism along with degrees in Commerce and Law. He has also completed a correspondence course in Shipping Economics and Operations from the Cambridge Academy of Transport, United Kingdom.
Currently, he heads the Business Development Department of Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), the nodal organization of the Government of Gujarat for development of the port sector in Gujarat. In addition to his role at the GMB, at Gujarat Maritime University, he is the Executive Director (Planning & Marketing). At the Gujarat Maritime University, he is also holding charge as its Registrar.
He is also on the Board of the Indian Maritime University, a Central University of the Government of India as a Member of Court, one of the Statutory Bodies as a representative of the Government of Gujarat.
GMB is the regulatory body for the port sector in Gujarat responsible for operating, facilitating and developing the 48 non-major ports of Gujarat. It contributes to more than 30% of the total Indian sea trade.
